Trabajamos continuamente por generar procesos más eficientes en emisiones que nos permitan reducir al máximo, para esto atacaremos diferentes frentes de acciones de mitigación:

- Aumento de captura de carbono en cultivos (Biomasa aérea y biomasa subterránea).
- Reducción de aplicación de fertilizantes nitrogenados por medio de enmiendas orgánicas y ayudantes microbiológicos.
- Reducción de consumo de combustibles fósiles en procesos mecanizados.
- Captura de metano en tratamiento de POME para el aprovechamiento energético interno o externo en la mayoría de nuestros socios proveedores.
- Aumento en la eficiencia de procesos de cogeneración en caldera para la generación de energía térmica y eléctrica.
- Generación de procesos de compostaje y fertirriego para el reaprovechamiento en cultivos.
- Procesos eficientes de logistica de ingreso de materias primas a procesos y salida de productos, con el fin de reducir excesos de consumo de combusitble.
- Aumento en eficiencia de energía térmica consumida en planta, por medio de la reducción de pérdidas de vapor, generando menores consumo de gas.
- Evaluación de sustitución de insumos principales por bioinsumos que generen una reducción en la emisión indirecta por la producción de estos productos (Ej. Biometanol).
- Gestión energética electrica eficiente, evaluando alternativas de suministro de energías renovables en partes del proceso.

Zero Deforestation Commitment
Colombia is home of an important part of the lungs of the world, which implies a commitment to climate goals and the global fight against deforestation worldwide. For this reason, we have assumed a ZERO DEFORESTATION commitment in our agricultural chain, guaranteeing that the oil supply, which we use in production, is free of deforestation phenomena.
Since 2017, BioD and its supplier partners have been an active part of the ZERO DEFORESTATION agreement, led by the Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. This agreement aims to identify and manage the impact of agricultural areas at risk of deforestation, as well as to accelerate conservation and restoration processes in degraded areas.
Wildlife Actions
Biodiversity preservation is the basis of ecological development at a global level and is part of our main work fronts with partners and suppliers, defining strategies, activities and protocols to guarantee the conservation of RAP (rare, threatened or endangered) species, as well as other ecologically important fauna groups present in the areas near our processes.
Our Biodiversity Conversation program includes the identification and monitoring of species, the preservation of biological corridors and the signaling and rescue of fauna, which allow the natural environment, of which we are part, to be preserved in the best way possible without affecting its development.
Environmental Actions
Our goal is to be more efficient with the consumption of the natural resources that we constantly use; for this, in each of our plant processes, we have generated actions based on:
- Control and increased efficiency in the requirement of thermal energy (steam), in order to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
- Use of alternative energies that allow a reduction in emissions.
- Recirculation of more than 90% of the wastewater from the process, generating minimum discharges to the environment.
- Maximize the use of waste products, generating sales opportunities to other companies.
